Schenectady Light Opera Company
The first public exhibition of 24 paintings
portraying the great City of Schenectady
NCV 22 - DEC 15, 2013
427 Franklin Street, Schenectady, NY 12305
“Schenectady is where I was born and raised. My time here is
captured in memory, collective and actual, filled with streets,
buildings, light, shadow and people. What I hope to share
in this exhibition is my respect for the lives, the histories,
the work and the efforts of an ever-changing
community of people who, today, as through the past,
strive to create and retain a sense of place,
of home. ” - Kenneth Hawkey
Artist Kenneth Hawkey has generously donated an original painting of Schenectady Light Opera Company. "Night Lights" beautifully captures the theater at night, which is also the former St. John the Baptist church. This historic church is purported to be the oldest Catholic church in the Mohawk Valley, and was originally constructed in the 1830s.
The artwork will be auctioned throughout the exhibition. The painting is valued at $1,400 and the opening bid was $400, submitted by an anonymous donor prior to the opening night reception.
Place your bid at the exhibit or to submit your bid, by email, just send your name and contact information and bid amount to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will update bidding results on the website every Friday. The final bid will be announced during the final performance of "Your a Good Man Charlie Brown" on December 15, 2013.
Bruce Holden was the high bidder for the painting, at $700.
Congratulations, Bruce and thank you!
